GRIT BASEBALL REGISTRATION 2025

ALL PLAYERS AND PARENTS MUST READ THIS AGREEMENT & SIGN AT THE END OF THE DOCUMENT

By signing this application the player and parent(s) (each a “Family" and collectively, the “Families”) agree to follow the GRIT Baseball travel code of conduct which requires model behavior and sportsmanship from all GRIT Families. Travel Team play is a serious commitment that requires regular player attendance and scheduled team practices and games. GRIT IS YOUR PRIORITY. Any spot playing on other teams is frowned upon. Any violation of this code can invalidate the application and/or be cause for suspension and/or dismissal from the team without refunds of any fees.

I - GC GRIT BASEBALL TEAM PRINCIPLES

  1. When we are at games and practices we give 100% focus and effort. Distracting and unproductive behavior brings the whole team down.

  1. We (players, coaches and parents) show respect for every member of the team, coaches, opposing players and umpires. Coaches will not yell and embarrass players and players will return that respect by acting appropriately, paying attention and giving their best effort.

  1. Parents play a key role. They are expected to be positive and supportive of all players and coaches. Please do not question coaches in front of your children. Also, please do not coach from the stands. If you have a question or a grievance, a 24 hour rule will be in effect. The 24 hour rule is simply a 24 hour pause between Family and GRIT as it relates to any question, comment, complaint, and a response from GRIT. After the expiration of the 24 hour period, GRIT invites you to call or send an email to the coach/coaches (NOT ADMIN/OWNER) to set up a time to talk. Raising issues with the coaches during or immediately after a practice or game is not appropriate or productive, particularly after an emotional win or loss. Also, emails in which other parents are addressed are not productive. Finally, please do not put other players down or compare your child to other players on the team. WE ARE ALL IN THIS TOGETHER!

  2. Everyone on the field and on the bench has a job to do and GRIT expects its players to perform their jobs. For example, while in the dugout/on bench, each player is expected to CHART, watch/learn, to cheer on their teammates, keep the dugout clean (lining up helmets and bats), warming up outfielders between innings, etc. and of course following directions from the coaches.

  3. While on the field or on the bench we want players thinking on every pitch. Ask yourself before each pitch “What do I do if the ball is hit to me?” Know how many outs there are and where the base runners are. If you don’t know, ask a teammate, coach or umpire. Create communication.

  1. Encourage each other. You are a TEAM. We win as a team and lose as a team. Players don’t scold teammates for mistakes. The coaches will correct mistakes. NO INDIVIDUAL SHOULD BE BLAMED FOR A LOSS, BECAUSE NO INDIVIDUAL SHOULD GET THE CREDIT FOR A VICTORY.

  1. Everyone makes physical mistakes. We will try to continuously practice and improve technique to minimize these mistakes. On the other hand, mental mistakes need to be eliminated. Pay attention and focus! Baseball IQ can separate our players as they progress in this game.

  2. Hustle, Hustle, Hustle! Run on and off the field and run out every batted ball. WALKING ON OR OFF THE FIELD WILL NOT BE TOLERATED. Respect the game.

  1. Most importantly, have fun! If we follow these principles, we will all learn the game, and rapidly develop. If we are not having fun, something is wrong.

  2. GRIT COMMIT! Grit is your #1 and ONLY club team. Little League and TownTravel are acceptable and our players should participate when applicable. We work with LL/Towns and always will. Other “spot” playing opportunities when our teams aren’t playing should be through our partner programs and or consent from your coach/organization. This isn’t about being territorial, this is about protocol/communication player safety and trust. We are preparing for MS, HS and beyond. Keep the big picture in mind.

II - GC GRIT BASEBALL FAMILY CONTRACT

The rules, philosophies and procedures of GRIT Baseball will operate under the outlines in the following pages.

Families applying to play on a travel team acknowledge there are limited spots available in the GRIT program and therefore payment of Fees are expected TO BE ON TIME.. Failure to pay any Fees will result in automatic suspension and we reserve the right to seek remuneration from you as a result of lost opportunity costs. Further, failure to abide by the rules set forth hereunder may result in and GRIT reserves the right to remove any player (Family) from the GRIT program for inability to observe the terms below.

Please read through each page closely, as we want you to be fully aware of what is expected of everyone (coaches, players and parents).

FINANCIAL OBLIGATIONS:

Player Fees: Each Family is responsible for the fees/registrations schedule issued to each player before participating (the “Fees”). The Fees are set forth in an exhibit to this Agreement and incorporated herein and made a part hereof.

Player Fees cover the expense of the league fees, coaches, tournaments, baseballs and various training equipment, practices, fields, insurance, indoor facilities, uniforms, gear etc.

If you choose to leave GRIT or you and/or the player is dismissed from the team due to rule violations; or disciplinary reasons, these Fees are non-refundable. In short—the fees are non-refundable

When your team is playing out of town, each parent is responsible financially for all meals and lodging or makes other arrangements if they are unable to accompany their child on trips. A team parent or GRIT Baseball administrator will send out hotel links prior to stay away tournaments to ease the process.

Legal Action. In the event GRIT institutes legal action to recover any amounts owed by the Family to GRIT, the parties agree that the amount to be recovered, and any judgment to be entered, shall include the full accelerated Fee(s) as set forth in this Agreement. The Family shall pay all ancillary fees incurred by GRIT in pursuing any and all Fees owed by Family, including all reasonable attorney fees. The Parties waive trial by jury in any action between them. The Family shall not be permitted to interpose any counterclaim; any action by Family against GRIT must be commenced within one year of the accrual of the cause of action or shall be barred. All actions and proceedings against GRIT must be based on the provisions of this Agreement. Any other action the Customer may have or bring against GRIT in respect to other services rendered in connection with this Agreement shall be deemed to have been merged in and be restricted to the terms and conditions of this Agreement.

III - GC GRIT BASEBALL, RULES FOR PLAYERS AND PARENTS

A. PARENTAL PARTICIPATION – EXPECTATIONS AND RULES:

The success of GRIT depends on the commitment of everyone in our organization. Parents are encouraged

to attend practices and games. You may be called upon to help with practice drills, scorekeeping and other items – if you are; thank you for participating; if you are not, thank you for respecting the coaches.

1. We want GRIT to be known as a FIRST CLASS ORGANIZATION.” We ask that parents, relatives and friends attending the games to never abuse umpires, opposing coaches or players as well as our own players in any way. Allow the players to play the game as they have been coached. AS MOM ALWAYS SAID: IF YOU HAVE NOTHING TO NICE TO SAY, DON’T SAY ANYTHING!

2. During games, parents are asked to remain 50 FEET AWAY  from the dugouts and the backstop area unless asked by the coaches. Players are instructed not to talk to their parents and friends while a game is in process. And please allow the only adult contact with your son during a game to be the coaching staff. Let the players play and the coaches: Coach. Regarding equipment, the players are responsible for their own equipment – let them take care of it; ultimately, it will help them later in life!

3. Any parent challenging the authority of a GRIT Baseball coach will be asked to leave. Verbal or physical abuse of the coaches will not be tolerated.

4. GRIT also reserves the right to “suspend” parents from attending games. Please behave as you would like your children to behave.

5. Parents may have concerns or questions and are required to follow the proper procedure:

Never address the coach before, during or immediately following a game or practice as the 24 hour rule is always in effect.

Never discuss other players when addressing a concern.

• Email (especially REPLY ALL) is not the preferred method of communication and it IS NOT a good tool for conflict resolution. It is simply for fact gathering.

GAMECHANGER MESSENGER is a great app/feature. HOWEVER it is not a forum for your concerns, critiques or questions outside of the baseball realm.  It is to be used for game/practice/tournament information. There is a direct message feature so if you feel the need to ask a specific question through this app, go about it that way

B. PLAYING TIME:

Playing time will be monitored by the coaches. Playing time is earned by hard work and performance/attendance in practice and in the games. IT IS NOT GUARANTEED! The coach will determine the best playing positions for each child. It is the goal of GRIT to put players in positions in which we feel each child will have the most success. If and when the GRIT coaches feel that the players should experience multiple positions throughout the season, this will take place.

C. PLAYERS – RULES AND EXPECTATIONS:

1. Players are not allowed to argue with coaches, parents or umpires for any reason.

2. Foul language and profanity should not be used at any time.

3. Good sportsmanship is a quality that is exemplified by our players. Taunting of teammates, opposing players and fans or umpires will not occur.

4. Self indulgence by players, such as hanging one’s head after an error or mental mistake or pout over a

personal failure, will have no place on the team. Controlling your emotions is critical at all times.

5. Insubordination and repeated poor behavior is not tolerated.

VIOLATIONS OF ANY OF THE FOREGOING OR A COMBINATION THEREOF MAY RESULT IN A SUSPENSION OR EXPULSION FROM THE TEAM.

D. PLAYERS – RULES AND EXPECTATIONS:

The rules and expectations listed herein place to ensure the quality development of our teams while maintaining the integrity of our organization. Any violations of these rules by parents or players will be handled by the following manner.

1. A formal warning will be issued and documented.

2. A suspension from participation will be issued and documented.

3. Possible expulsion from the GRIT Baseball program.

Please take note that the foregoing is a guideline and will be followed at the discretion of the coaches. Nothing will be done in an egregious or capricious manner; however, if the offense committed by the FAMILY is egregious enough GRIT reserves the right to immediately suspend and/or expel the player immediately (without a warning). It’s youth baseball folks – let’s have fun!
