III - GC GRIT BASEBALL, RULES FOR PLAYERS AND PARENTS
A. PARENTAL PARTICIPATION – EXPECTATIONS AND RULES:
The success of GRIT depends on the commitment of everyone in our organization. Parents are encouraged
to attend practices and games. You may be called upon to help with practice drills, scorekeeping and other items – if you are; thank you for participating; if you are not, thank you for respecting the coaches.
1. We want GRIT to be known as a “FIRST CLASS ORGANIZATION.” We ask that parents, relatives and friends attending the games to never abuse umpires, opposing coaches or players as well as our own players in any way. Allow the players to play the game as they have been coached. AS MOM ALWAYS SAID: IF YOU HAVE NOTHING TO NICE TO SAY, DON’T SAY ANYTHING!
2. During games, parents are asked to remain 50 FEET AWAY from the dugouts and the backstop area unless asked by the coaches. Players are instructed not to talk to their parents and friends while a game is in process. And please allow the only adult contact with your son during a game to be the coaching staff. Let the players play and the coaches: Coach. Regarding equipment, the players are responsible for their own equipment – let them take care of it; ultimately, it will help them later in life!
3. Any parent challenging the authority of a GRIT Baseball coach will be asked to leave. Verbal or physical abuse of the coaches will not be tolerated.
4. GRIT also reserves the right to “suspend” parents from attending games. Please behave as you would like your children to behave.
5. Parents may have concerns or questions and are required to follow the proper procedure:
Never address the coach before, during or immediately following a game or practice as the 24 hour rule is always in effect.
• Never discuss other players when addressing a concern.
• Email (especially REPLY ALL) is not the preferred method of communication and it IS NOT a good tool for conflict resolution. It is simply for fact gathering.
GAMECHANGER MESSENGER is a great app/feature. HOWEVER it is not a forum for your concerns, critiques or questions outside of the baseball realm. It is to be used for game/practice/tournament information. There is a direct message feature so if you feel the need to ask a specific question through this app, go about it that way.
B. PLAYING TIME:
Playing time will be monitored by the coaches. Playing time is earned by hard work and performance/attendance in practice and in the games. IT IS NOT GUARANTEED! The coach will determine the best playing positions for each child. It is the goal of GRIT to put players in positions in which we feel each child will have the most success. If and when the GRIT coaches feel that the players should experience multiple positions throughout the season, this will take place.
C. PLAYERS – RULES AND EXPECTATIONS:
1. Players are not allowed to argue with coaches, parents or umpires for any reason.
2. Foul language and profanity should not be used at any time.
3. Good sportsmanship is a quality that is exemplified by our players. Taunting of teammates, opposing players and fans or umpires will not occur.
4. Self indulgence by players, such as hanging one’s head after an error or mental mistake or pout over a
personal failure, will have no place on the team. Controlling your emotions is critical at all times.
5. Insubordination and repeated poor behavior is not tolerated.
VIOLATIONS OF ANY OF THE FOREGOING OR A COMBINATION THEREOF MAY RESULT IN A SUSPENSION OR EXPULSION FROM THE TEAM.
D. PLAYERS – RULES AND EXPECTATIONS:
The rules and expectations listed herein place to ensure the quality development of our teams while maintaining the integrity of our organization. Any violations of these rules by parents or players will be handled by the following manner.
1. A formal warning will be issued and documented.
2. A suspension from participation will be issued and documented.
3. Possible expulsion from the GRIT Baseball program.
